Salman Khan was born as ‘Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan’ on December 1965, in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. He is the son of Salim Khan, a scriptwriter who gave hit films like Sholay and Don, and his first wife, Salma Khan. He was one of the five children of his parents, the other being two sons, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan, and two daughters, Alvira and Arpita. In the late-1980s, Salman Khan started visiting producers and auditioning for roles. He debuted in the film industry, in a supporting role, in 1988, with the movie ‘Biwi Ho To Ais. Salman Khan’s debut as a leading actor came with Sooraj R. Barjatya's ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, which was released in 1989. It was in 1994 that Salman Khan became the king of box office once again, when Sooraj Barjatya’s ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun’ hit the theaters. The movie turned out to be one of the highest grossers of all times and also won him his second nomination for Filmfare Best Actor Award.
